The Book is Here

At last - the book is here and the secure site is up and running. You can order here

We got up at five and trundled up to London so that we could deliver some things to Michael and collect loads of envelopes for the book. Then on to Tunbridge Wells to the printers - who had temporarily lost the book. They eventually found it and great excitement ensued. Always such a relief when it looks good and I am so pleased with it - the pics are really big and the colour is wonderful. Val and I once had to have a Batsford book reprinted because the colour was wrong and that was awful. Here is a copy of TTMM sitting on my untidy desk, just to prove it is really here.

Having collected 1000 0f the books we set off for home - just as the wind howled and the heavens opened. The van was not the ideal vehicle for these conditions and it was a nightmare journey. I couldn't help with the driving as I'm not insured for other vehicles, so Clive had to do it all. On the way back MW rang to say we had forgotten the envelopes!!!! So he had to drive through the motorway river and meet us at a service station on the M3. I've never been so glad to get home and we went to bed at 10pm.

It was worth it to see the piles of books today. Now we are working on Julia's which is bursting its covers with all the colour it contains.

Diana - have your tried refreshing the page? That should do the trick (Function key F5 on a PC) but the link to the classes page is here

Wabbit - thanks for the advice for Jacqui. Working on the same design is fun and one of the group exercises the Beyond Stitch group has tried is to make a black and white photocopy of a famous painting and cut out a section. Then each member has to interpret it. Good fun and very interesting.

Jennywren - I'm sure Dale has it at www.thethreadstudio.com

Let me know what you think of the book.

Hurray! Congratulations on the new arrival, Maggie, and I'm glad you're happy with it. I used to edit magazines and know how disappointing it is when the finished product doesn't live up to expectations.
I'm ordering the book rightaway, can't wait to see it, and to take part in the classes. You're so good to do this for us!
Thank you for your suggestion for solving my IT glitch - it seems to be OK now (doh).

Whooopie! I've just ordered it perhaps 90 seconds after the notification email hit my inbox. I'm not waiting ages for this one, unless the Royal Mail and US Snail Mail slows it down.

I'm so glad that you are pleased with it, Maggie. If you are pleased, I am sure that all of us will be thrilled with it. I ordered Embellish & Stitch at the same time as this week I have finally had to admit that I am going to break down and buy an embellisher eventually, so why not tip myself over the edge with your book? ;-))

Like wabbit the book was ordered as soon as notification was received. Now l have to wait for posty who arrives anytime between 9.30am - 3pm !

My dissertation was called "I am an alchemist of haberdashery art: the haberdashery is my prima materia, peaks and vales are my laboritory". It was for an MA in Transpersonal Arts and Practice that covered imaginative psychologies, dance and music therapy, culture and tradition in the healing arts and alchemy and archtypes. It was fantastic. I don't know whether it would make a book as it is more a way of being and living...

What does smudge thinks of the new book? If you have piles of them around the house they will make good vantage points and launch pads!!

I also ordered as soon as I got the email. This and the arrival of the new Jackson Browne CD on the same day is playing havoc with my revision! Fortunately my regular postman is back after a break and he is always consistent with his arrival time. Can't wait to see him with 'the package'.

Yippee. Ordered it as soon as email arrived and can't wait for both book and classes. Congratulations - how wonderful it must be to get your own creation into print!

Hi
The book looks great, will I be able to buy it at the Fashion & Embroidery show at Harrogate this weekend?

Congratulations on the new book and I am sure it will find its way onto my book shelf in the near future. At the moment I am still going through Stitch, Dissolve, Disort and Machine Embroidery,(your supply list is great by the way).

Believe it or not, I work in a fabric store and have no idea about fabrics, interfacing or anything, I am just a hoarder of things that glitter and that I might use one day but I am learning

Oh! I hope it sprouts wings to fly across the pond - I am so excited about getting it and playing through the classes - what a lovely treat for me, given all the gloom of the US financial stuff these days! Forgo food - make art!

The long awaited day has arrived, well done and congratulations all round. I have tried to order the book on line but it doesn't like my debit card, so will send a cheque by post and have to wait a little bit longer. Thankyou so much for writing it for us - no housework for me this winter and only meals that will practically cook themselves!!

Glad the book is out, I have ordered it this morning, cant wait.
My catalogue is out and I havent looked at it but we have had no rain since I put it out, a real worry as it is spring here. However it is near where the pots get watered and I threw leaves on it, have no idea what it looks like or what I do with it, it is the Ikea one. All go here, back from Dale's class at Geelong, visitors and a new great grand son who had a traumatic delivery for his very young mother. Was going to ask about encaustic wax, so it really is just beeswax with color. Not sure how it will work here in our heat. all on the blog if any one is interested!

The book has arrived and exceeds expectations. Photography is excellent. Only frustrating part is that I have my OU exam on Tuesday so dare not start playing otherwise revision will suffer. Look out Wednesday!

Congratulations Maggie on the book being out! I have ordered a copy too and can't wait to see it. I'm looking forward to the online classes too and intend to clear the decks so I can work along with them properly.

I now have 2 catalogues in the garden. The first one is getting nicely pitted.

I ordered as well---as soon as you had posted news of the book coming out, i started a skecthbook/workbook for this! (If i may be so daring, those entries on my squarespace blog are tagged as "mutability".)
