Brrrrrr!

It’s freezing here with the temperature hovering around zero and a wicked east wind. It’s the first time I’ve seen the postman with his trousers on! (No, no, it’s not what you think. He always wears shorts.) We may have snow - how exciting.

Today’s candidate from the cupboard (hastily scanned - too cold to go out and photo) is this heavily machined piece called Celtic Warriors. Unfortunately my wild men have a strange resemblance to Ossama bin Laden so I stopped taking them out. Any ideas for re-developing this sort of disaster?

Annabelle - I have a horrible dentist thing on the 9th. Early in December I broke a tooth and the dentist said he could put a crown on it. I’ve had to wait so long for this appointment that even more tooth has gone, so I’m not sure what he’ll do. Groan. May go the following Saturday.

The trash as treasure theme. Good point, Hilary. I taught a course overseas once and, because I was catching a plane straight from class, I chucked away all the half stitched samples. I popped back in to the room for something and found them all rummaging in the bin and fighting over them!

Lorna - Thank you for choosing me. Email me on maggie@workshopontheweb.com and we’ll get something sorted.

I love the way the Aussies leave items out to recycle them. We don’t get many passers by here and I’m not sure that my immediate neighbours would quite understand my ‘stuff’.

Smallest grandchild and I went to the Bear Factory yesterday and made a koala bear called Uncle Ian (Uncle Ian lives in Australia). It’s on the bear's birth certificate so it must be true.

I thought I could just dash into Marks to buy a bra. Not a good idea with a 5-year-old who is good at numbers. Loud shouts of ‘Granny, here’s a size **’, caused amusement, especially when he decided that bigger must be better. I retired hurt.

Tsk! -24C here Maggie. I love the celtic warriors - I don't think they're too Osama at all; but perhaps increasing the celtic elements? Not sure how you'd do that, because it's clear to me.

Feeling humble, Deireth. My excuse is that we are not used to it.

Good luck with the tooth. I've just had one done myself so you have my sympathies. I'd tell you to keep a stiff upper lip and grit your teeth, but something else may crumble!!

I read yeterdays post to my husband and I got my coffee in bed this am with a 'here's your coffee Maggie' so thanks for that. He makes it most mornings but I usually get up when it is ready.
We have snow and fluttering flakes from time to time. Not as cold as it looks though.
Cheers

I think you are a bit responsible for my last phone call: I've called the shop to order an embellisher. :-) It will be there at the end of next week...
One day, I'd lost my daughters in the equivalent of Markes, they were about 18-20. I could not find them. Then I heard an annoucement, loud and clear. "the lady in the black coat who is browing the make-up stuff should turn around. Her daughters have been waiting for her for ages at the cash desk"... No comments.
Regarding your grandson, at least, he'll know what size his mother, grand-mother or girl friend are, and will be able to buy them nice cloths... Just my opinion.

My word you are brave , Maggie , most of my GS's have far too much of a sense of mischief to risk such an outing.
I think you should put your Celtic warriors on a Hell's Angels' jacket! If you have a tame one somewhere around, that is, LOL.

Hi Maggie, me again, sorry to do this , but I seem to have lost Aussie Jo's email address and I wondered if you have it as I think you had it last time she left me a comment on my blog.

Happy New year to you Maggie, a bit late I know but things have been very hectic here, we are back to sweltering in 40 plus degrees again today, not what was forecast at all. I envy you the cold.

I hate to be pedantic Maggie, but Koalas are definitely NOT bears. Koalas are marsupials and bears are not. Love the blog, especially since you add to it so regularly.
Best Wishes,
Sue. (Australia)
